"It's a GIRL"

Hello everyone!  I am sorry I have been away.  Life's work needed to be done and so I took a brief break from my blog and crafting (it really has only been just under a week) and I got a lot of things done.

So now that I that I feel refreshed and in desperate need to craft, I just had to share the news.  One of my dearest childhood friends Janell is having her first baby. I am thrilled for her and I had to create something fun and baby for her to congratulate her soon to be bundle of joy.  I created this today using my new set of chalks that came in the mail about a week or so ago (I Kandee from Pebble Ink.) and just had to dive in to use them.  I used pastel colors and paper from a scrap pack by Best Occasions.  The ribbon is from Joann's when their spools were on sale a while back.  However, this wasn't the only reason I was making this card, I wanted to also join in on the challenge over at 2 Sketches 4 You (2S4Y).  This is what the sketch looked like...

I hope you all love it and get inspired to create something fun or even jump in on this challenge, you can click their link just above!  Take care, till next time.

"Happy Birthday

Hello everybody!  I know it has been a few days since I have posted, it has been crazy busy around my house lately.  So much to do and never enough time to do it in.  I spent a good majority of the day crafting and I got a lot of things done...YAY!  I just had to share this birthday card with you.  I felt like I was put to challenge.  I begged, borrowed, and stole this awesome pattern paper from my friend Ruthy and she said something along the lines of, "I just know that you are going to do something awesome with it and I can't wait to see."  I came up with this sketch, this is the first time I have ever sketched something out and I am super excited.  I know this will not be the last.  Without further ado, here is the sketch...

For this card, there was so much detail that went into making this card.  I used I kandee chalk from Pebbles Ink to distress the edges.  I took ordinary paper flowers and stamped different background images on them.  One of the flowers was handcrafted by Shelley from Heartstring Designs, I added a little bit of chalk to blend in with the colors used for this card.  A few brads here and there to tie the card together and a "happy birthday" sentiment stamp from Hero Arts to finish.  I hope you all love this card as much as I do.  I give permission to borrow my sketch and place it on your blog as long as you recognize in your blog where you got the sketch from.  Be inspired and get crafty my fellow scrappers.  Take care, till next time!

"Friend"

Hi all!  I see that many of you have been getting crafty in one way or another.  Just a friendly reminder to head on over to Heartstrings Design Team Challenge...'red, white, and blue.'

I wanted to jump on the Everything But the Kitchen Sink (EBTKS) sketch Challenge, as well as, create a card to post over at Two Peas in a Bucket for a Kristina Werner Challenge.  Love that I can create a card to work for two different challenges.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  On that note, this is the sketch used at EBTKS...

And for the Kristina Werner challenge, I was to create a card that was black, white, and one other color to create a card.  I think I did just that.  I rummaged through my left over embellishments and I love how the card turned out.  I hope this inspires you to join in on one or both of these challenges.  I had a ton of fun.  Now its your turn to get crafty...take care, till next time.

"Hello"

Hello all!  I can only hope that you are all getting crafty and joining in on the red, white, and blue challenge for Heartstrings Design.  I was getting crafty today and creating a 'Hello' card for a challenge with Kristina @ Kwernerdesign.com and Two Peas in a Bucket, as well as, designing a card that would fit the criteria of another challenge over at Paper Patch Crafts.  So for the 'Hello' challenge, I was to either use the sketches based on Kristina's year in cards for June or come up with our design, as long as it is a 'Hello' card.  For the Paper Patch Crafts challenge, it was to follow and create a card based on this sketch.  I wanted to dig outside the box and came up with this cute creation.  I hope you all get inspired to get crafty.  Take care, till next time!

"Heartstrings Design: Red/White/Blue"

Hi all!  I am super excited to announce this is the first official challenge from Heartstring Design Team and our sponsor My Heart Stamps for You (MHS4Y).  For this challenge the theme is 'Red, White, and Blue.'  A few things to follow to jump in on all the fun and join this challenge at a chance to win a prize.
  1. Go to Heartstring Design blog to join in on the challenge to have a chance at the prize.
  2. That challenge begins today June 16 and closes on June 30.
  3. If you go to MHS4Y & place an order, our sponsor is giving a free stamp with each order.

On that note, I had so much fun creating this design and getting it just right to share with everyone.  I used Kraft Paper for the card base and added different colors of red, white, and blue to coordinate with my angel that was colored in using colored pencils (I used three shades of each color to really emphasize the shading).  The angel is a stamp from My Heart Stamps for You.  I used the stars for added interest to emphasize a celebration.  Around the edges I used a blue pen to create foe stitching around the edges and I used my blender pen to create the dots that led up to the stars.  Finally, I used a Hero Arts Stamp for sentiment.

"Miss you"

Hello all!  I have had a super busy weekend and I didn't think I was going to get any scrappin' in, which I didn't, but things are back to normal this Monday and I got crafty.  Over at My Creative Time, it is another Throwback Thursday challenge.  The Cricut cartridge suggested for this challenge is 'Stretch Your Imagination'...well I don't have that cartridge and so we were allowed to use specific colors (red, blue, and brown) along with a Cricut Cartridge we have.  On that note, I used scraps from my scrap pile, the George and basic shapes cartridge to cut out the circle, a little bit a stamping, and my blender pen.  I hope you all like the creation I came up with, it was a last minute design, wasn't sure if it was going to work out at all.  FYI...the challenge ends tonight, so head on over there to get your project in.  Take care, till next time!

"Wedding Project"

Hi all!  So, my brother and his wife were married just over three months ago and my gift or request by them was to scrapbook their entire wedding album!  Sounds like fun right...I mean I did my wedding album about a year ago or so (and it only took me five years...haha).  Now that I am a scrapbooking addict, I don't predict that it will take five years.  On that note, I am going to begin tackling my brothers wedding album, I am super excited; however, I am awaiting some pictures to be sent to me.  While I am waiting I am working with what I have.  The colors of their wedding were classic black and white affair.  It was stunning!!!  When I get excited about doing a project I immediately want to go out and buy buy buy...who can relate???

Boy did I buy...and I am still buying...

Therefore, I had the darnedest time finding things that were in black and white (sets that is), it became really pricey to find things individually.  Low and behold...Joann's came in and saved the day.  They were selling this beautiful set called Nocturne By: Colorbok.  (Click to check out their website, blog, and facebook page).  It is absolutely gorgeous and everything I was looking for.

On a final note, I just wanted to share one of the major projects I will be working on and I will share what I have created, once I have created!  Here are a few more pictures of things that I also bought at Joann's, on ebay, and various other places (I can't remember when I got everything at...sorry).  Thank you for letting me share some of my goodies for my brothers wedding album and I hope you find inspiration to create your own themed album, whether it be for yourself or a gift to someone else.  Take care, till next time!

"CPS Sketch Challenge"

Hello everyone!  I have been diligently working on a card for a challenge going on over at Card Positioning Systems (CPS).  This was the sketch that was provided to run with, use your imagination, and create a beautiful card.

For this challenge, I created a one layer card (all stamping), lots of masking, and monochromatic in color.  I used a few stitching stamps and Hero Arts stamps as well.  I hope you all enjoy and get inspired by this creation, it did take me a while and I had lots of fun.  Take care, till next time.

'My Creative Time' THROWBACK!

Hi all!  Over at My Creative Time with Emma she has a 'Throwback Thursday' with Cricut Cartridges.  I am not sure if I will always be able to participate as I am limited with very few Cricut Cartridges (which is okay with me, until I get more).  However, for this challenge Emma was very specific to using animals on a creative projects.  On that note, I will be throwing back to 2009 with Lyrical Letters.  This cartridge is mostly full of various types of fonts; however, there are several sentiments, animals, flowers, amongst many other things that come on this cartridge.  Very versatile (which I love).  I haven't been able to use this birdie before and I think it was just super cute.  I layered the birdie for an undercoat effect, along with rolling the wings with a pen to allow them to stick out a little bit.  I had a lot of fun creating this card, as I had no idea what I was going to do with the birdie or how I was going to lay it out.  After much thought, this is what I came up with.  I hope you all like it and find yourself inspired to join in on the fun.  Take care, till next time.

"Changes, changes, changes..."

CHANGES
CHANGES
CHANGES

OH MY....

Hi all!  There have been so many changes going on my blog lately, I have lost count as to everything I have changed.  One major thing was, I had put so many things on my blog, it was time for a three column blog to help keep things a little better organized and easier to find.  I hope that this helps.  I know my background has changed several time; however, the previous background (which I loved) wouldn't allow me to use the three-column background for it.  So I have come to love this one just as much (it is colorful...check...it is organized...check...and it user friendly...check).  I have recently added a "grab my button" to my blog and because I like things to go together and work well, that too will be changing here soon.  I am sorry, again, for all the unusual changes; however, it think it was for the best.  I hope everyone is having a great weekend and I hope to have a new creation posted late this evening, early morning.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment or shoot me over an e-mail.  Take care, till next time!

"Check out this Giveaway..."

Hello all!  I know this is my second post in one day, I haven't done this in a while...but it is completely worth it.  Over at Heartstrings Designs she is having a giveaway for reaching 100 followers on her blog; however, it doesn't stop there.  The giveaway will grow as the number of followers grow (the next number to reach is 125 for more goodies to be added on).  To begin with, she is giving away a limited edition Cricut Independence Day Seasonal Cartridge...look below...

There are several opportunities that will give you more chances to win.  Please head on over to Heartstrings Designs and see what she has in store for you.  Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun!  Lets get to it.

"Sweet Moments"

Hi all!  I have had a need to be crafty these past few days.  I have created quite a few things; however, I made this one specifically for a challenger over at Canadian Nickel Scrap'N.  She is giving away a Summer Vacation Seasonal Cricut Cartidge from June 2 - June 16.

There are several opportunities to win which means that your chances of winning can be up to five times.  Head on over to Canadian Nickel Scrap'N and see what she has going on over there (a lot of great techniques, giveaway, and tutorials).

For this challenge nothing says summer more then the ability to enjoy it of course by the pool or ocean for that matter and some yummy ice cream under the hot sun.  So I pulled out one of my cricut cartridges (A word Party) and made an ice cream cone for this card.  Out here we have amazing frozen yogurt place (I know its not exactly real ice cream, buts its amazing) called Golden Spoon and if you have had it before, you all know what I am talking about.  Besides it is the only way I am able to stick to weight watchers and enjoy some yummy sweetness.  I hope you all enjoy the card I created and get inspired to join in on the challenge.  Till next time...take care!

"Always Friends"

Hello everyone!  It sure has been a little bit since I have posted a recent card that I have made.  I was feeling pretty crafty this morning as I wanted to use my new Hero Arts stamps that I got in the mail a few days ago.  They are not new for Hero Arts, just me!  I really like them had to have them.  I loved the monkeys that came with this set and thought what a great friends card I can make with them.  Of course I used scraps that I have had from other projects. I wanted the illusion that the monkeys were climbing through the trees.  You all know I love color, so I am sure there was no surprise when I chose the lime green, bright orange, and canary yellow.  There was no doubt in my mind for this idea, just how it was going to turn out and I must say 'I love it.'  I hope you all enjoy this fun card as well and be inspired.  Take care.
